Customers looking for information around updating the BI xPress Database, or changing the database in the Monitoring Dashboard can refer to the video linked, or step-by-step instructions below.
When you upgrade BI xPress you may need to update your BI xPress database.
Applying Auditing Framework
Step 1: Open latest version of Workbench.
Step 2: Click on the Auditing Framework tile and select the location where your packages exist
Step 3: When you attempt to apply the Auditing Framework there may be a pop up which will display the script that updates the BI xPress database.
Step 4: Run that script (or you can copy/paste the script and send it to your DBA to update the Database if that is the standard protocol at your company)
Step 5: After running the script you can continue applying the framework to the packages right from the interface from within the Workbench.
Step 6: Exit the Auditing Framework.
Step 7: Click on the Monitoring Dashboard tile.
Step 8: Click "Launch Monitoring Console".
Step 9: Click on the top left "BI xPress Database" to change the Server Name, and select your BIxPress Database.
As shown in the video you can quickly move between multiple BI xPress Databases right from within the Monitoring Console.
The version of the Monitoring Console requires a specific version of database to work. Our application changes from release to release and the database requirements change as we've added features over the years and the new version requires all of those changes. It cannot work off of a subset, therefore you will need to update the database if you're going to use a version of Workbench that requires it.
We don't issue database updates with every release. Customers should be comforted to know that when they do update the database, all their existing packages will still work as we have made sure not to break compatibility with that.
